As future teachers,
we have to know how technology works. Also, we have to know, the hardware and
software that we have available for our classes and how to apply them in our daily
life. After reading the two articles: A reflexive enquiry and Integrative CALL
into the classroom: The Role of Postcasting in an ESL Listening Strategies
Course. I have learned significant things about the use of postcasting that I
will apply in my future career as a teacher.
These
articles reminded me an experience with a virtual course in the current
semester at University. I am taking British Literature, in this class is
mandatory to upload a comment and discuss about a topic that the teacher
provides at beginning of the week. Initially, it was strange take a virtual
course, we can’t see the teacher and he upload the indications, but now, is
easy to us use our technological resources as cellphones, laptops or desktop computer
to record the comments. In this course, we apply postcasting, and it is an
amazing experience, we discuss and learn even without the physical presence of
the teacher or classmates, we only heard and comment every post after reading
about the topic and it is really interactive the learning process that we are
having.
As a conclusion,
I can say, that from these articles I learned that we as future teachers, have
the responsibility to learn how the technology that we have available is useful
in order to develop some main skills like listening in our students and made of
postcasting or whatever form to learn a nice experience.
Hi adonai, I have to say that I agree with you when you said that as future teachers we have to know how technology works. I think that as future teachers we have to be aware that technology is a very important source that we can use in order to teach classes, but at the same time, we need to be prepared in order to give it a correct use. I think that teachers need to be trained in order to use technology just as is stated in the article that if teachers want to use technology they need to be trained just to know how to use it properly. Another thing in which I agree with you is when you mentioned our experience in our british class. As you mentioned we can learn without the physical presence of the teacher or classmates and it is a very interesting and creative way to learn. We have seen that podcasting can be really useful in the process of learning a new language so I have a question for you what other technological source you will apply in order to make your students practice the language?
ReplyDeleteHi William, sorry for reply you so late! In order to answer your question, I would say that I will apply Facebook Groups to update information about the topics, chat sessions to make discussions about a topic that students like. Also, in order to know the students improvements, I would use quia to make test about the topics that we see in class.
DeleteHello Ado, I wanted to comment on your post because I like it and I agree with you. The internet is a great tool that can be used for teaching languages; not only as a medium of instruction, but also as a source of content. There are different websites where we can find material to integrate into class or to use with our students. We can use the material at any moment we want, it is not necessary to have internet at the time of giving a class. Also, I agree when you mention that at the same time there are useful websites for the benefit of learning, there are also some of them that do not help at all to education. However, I think that it depends on the way we use them. For example, Facebook is a place that a lot of people use for entertainment, but it can be very useful to communicate with students and an excellent mean to share important material with them.
